Rasikh Salam Dar, Nehwal Wadhera and Abdul Samad went big among uncapped players. Rasikh became the highest paid uncapped player on Day 1 as RCB roped the pacer for ₹6 crore. From a base price of ₹30 lakh, Wadhera went to Punjab Kings for ₹4.20 crore, while LSG paid the same for Samad. Mumbai Indians entered the auction late but their first pick was New Zealand's Trent Boult for ₹12.50 crore. Jofra Archer ( ₹12.5 crore) and Josh Hazlewood ( ₹12.50 crore) were the other overseas fast bowlers to earn big bucks. Venkatesh Iyer was the biggest pick outside the marquee set as Kolkata Knight Riders paid a staggering ₹23.75 crore to bring back the India all-rounder in their squad, while Ishan Kishan found a new home in SRH for ₹11.25 crore. David Warner and Devdutt Padikkal were the two big names to go unsold after Rishabh Pant broke Shreyas Iyer's record within minutes to become IPL's costliest buy as Lucknow Super Giants spent a mind-boggling ₹27 crore for the wicketkeeper-batter. This happened moments after Punjab Kings broke the bank to get Indian batter Shreyas Iyer for a whopping ₹26.75 Crore, breaking Mitchell Starc's record of ₹24.75 crore last year. Arshdeep Singh raked in the moolah, becoming the first player to be sold in IPL Auction 2025. He got ₹18 crore as Punjab Kings used their RTM card to beat Sunrisers Hyderabad. Gujarat Titans paid ₹10.75 crore to get Kagiso Rabada. Jos Buttler was sold to Gujarat Titans for ₹15.75 crore. In Marquee Set 2, India bowlers Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj ruled. Chahal got ₹18 crore from PBKS. Shami was picked up for ₹10 Crore by SRH, while Siraj went to GT for ₹12.25 Crore. Among top batters, KL Rahul, quite expectedly, went for big bucks. DC paid ₹14 crore for the opener on Day 1 of IPL Auction 2025.

Australian pacer Mitchell Starc, who smashed auction records last time when he was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders for ₹24.75 crore, was picked up by the Delhi Capitals for ₹11.75 crore this time around..

Among the capped all-rounders, India's Ravichandran Ashwin went for ₹9.75 crore to CSK. PBKS spent ₹11 crore for Australia's Marcus Stoinis.

The Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings gunned to set their team for the next years from a pool of 574 players in these two-day long IPL Auction 2025. On Day 1, however, only 84 top cricketers went under the hammer. On Day 2, the 10 franchises will nominate a set of players who will be auctioned in an accelerated manner, followed by the last round, where the unsold players will be back for auction again.
