Key decisions taken in Governing Council meeting regarding TATA IPL 2022 Season

The IPL  2022 Governing Council at its meeting held yesterday made the following key decisions regarding the TATA IPL 2022 Season. The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League ( IPL ) will be played in a bio-secure environment at a single hub to avoid air travel which is considered as a major threat for the spread of COVID-19 infection, thereby affecting the players and the League/matches.The tournament will kick start from 26th March, 2022 and the final will be played on 29th May, 2022.  A total of Seventy (70) league matches will be played across four international standard venues in Mumbai and Pune (MH ). The venue for the playoff matches will be decided later.

IPL 2022 Groups Announced

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has confirmed the two groups for upcoming the IPL 2022 season. The addition of new franchises has prompted the league to have 2 separate groups. Let's know about Groups List :

 

IPL 2022 Group A Teams:

1) Mumbai Indians ( MI ),
2) Kolkata Knight Riders ( KKR ),
3) Rajasthan Royals ( RR ),
4) Delhi Capitals ( DC ),
5) Lucknow Super Giants ( LSG ),

IPL 2022 Group B Teams:

1) Chennai Super Kings ( CSK ),
2) Sunrisers Hyderabad ( SRH ),
3) Royal Challengers Bangalore ( RCB ),
4) Punjab Kings ( PBKS ),
5) Gujarat Titans ( GT ),

Let's know want example

For Example : In Group A, MI will play 2 matches each against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR),  Rajasthan Royals (RR), DC, LSG. MI will also play two matches against CSK and one match each against other teams in Groups.

 

B.  Similarly, in Group B, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will play 2 matches against CSK, SRH, PBKS and GT. RCB will also play 2 matches against Rajasthan Royals (RR) and 1 match each against other teams in Group A.
